The D23 Disney Legends Awards is the crown jewel of Disney’s fan-favorite D23 Expo, honoring the visionaries, artists, and innovators who have shaped the Disney legacy. Founded by Bob Iger in 1987, the Legends Awards have celebrated iconic contributors to the Disney universe for nearly four decades.

In 2024, Disney entrusted Done + Dusted to elevate the ceremony to unprecedented heights. Our role was to amplify the scale, production quality, and emotional impact of the event, crafting a spectacular experience for both the 15,000 in-person fans at the Honda Center and an even broader global audience as the show streamed on Disney+ for the first time.

Done + Dusted spearheaded the event’s creative direction, live production, and show execution, collaborating closely with Disney to ensure a flawless, immersive experience. Our responsibilities included:

Creative & Show Design – Conceptualizing the overall visual and narrative experience, from stage design to screen content.

Live Show Production – Managing every aspect of the rundown, show flow, and script, ensuring seamless transitions between honoree segments, live performances, and tribute moments.

Talent & Performances – Coordinating an unforgettable lineup of hosts, presenters, and musical acts, creating a dynamic and engaging program.

Technical & Visual Execution – Overseeing graphics, broadcast content, and in-room visuals, ensuring every detail reflected Disney’s unparalleled storytelling.

Ryan Seacrest served as the charismatic host, guiding audiences through an emotional and celebratory evening. A legendary class of honorees, including Angela Bassett, Harrison Ford, Jamie Lee Curtis, James Cameron, Mark Henn, Frank Oz, and Miley Cyrus—who made history as the youngest-ever Disney Legend. Spectacular performances, including a live orchestral tribute by John Williams and a special performance by Lainey Wilson, elevating the night with cinematic grandeur. This was the largest Disney Legends ceremony in history, marking a milestone in the 37-year tradition of honoring Disney’s most influential creatives.

Bringing this monumental show to life required meticulous coordination across live production, technical execution, and creative storytelling. Our team designed a dual-format experience, ensuring the energy of the in-person show translated seamlessly to Disney+’s global streaming audience. By curating personalized, visually stunning tribute segments, we ensured each honoree’s legacy was honored in a way that resonated deeply with fans. Managing a star-studded lineup of presenters, live performances, and multimedia content, we flawlessly integrated real-time elements with pre-produced segments.
