Mark Twain Prize for American Humor 2018: Julia Louis-Dreyfus

2018 marked our first time producing the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, broadcast on PBS and held at the Kennedy Center. We were thrilled to honor the award’s recipient, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, the 21st honoree and 4th woman to take home Twain’s head. 

Women in comedy influenced by Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ huge impact gave live speeches and sent in video tributes, including Tina Fey and Ellie Kemper. Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson, the duo behind female-led sitcom Broad City, even performed a moving tribute to Elaine Benes’ iconic Seinfeld dancing, accompanied by a contemporary dance troupe.
