Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special

Mariah Carey is the Queen of Christmas, and when Covid-19 shook up our plans to shoot her holiday special on a traditional set, we had to innovate in real time to give her the platform she needed to sleigh. 

We worked like elves to re-imagine the special against a backdrop of extended and augmented reality, and captured live performances with 4K HDR format cameras against 360-degree artificial worlds built by Unreal Engine. Featuring a star-studded cast that included Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, Billy Eichner, Tiffany Haddish, and the Peanuts gang, it was Apple TV’s most-watched program ever and established Done+Dusted as leading experts in extended and augmented reality for broadcast formats.
