GOSPEL LIVE! PRESENTED BY HENRY LOUIS GATES, JR.

Done+Dusted worked with PBS and Henry Louis Gates, Jr. to produce GOSPEL Live!, a companion concert to PBS and Gates’ four hour GOSPEL docuseries. This hourlong live-to-tape event, filmed in front of a packed congregation at Oasis Church in the heart of LA, captured gospel music’s community feeling, cultural impact, and raw spiritual power.  
In collaboration with acclaimed gospel artist Erica Campbell, our team of creative partners crafted a live event and broadcast that took audiences in person and at home on a journey through gospel music’s influential history. Music director Alonzo “Zo” Harris presented 9 iconic songs from the canon, performed by contemporary secular artists and renowned gospel singers including John Legend, Anthony Hamilton and The Ton3s, LaTocha, Mali Music, Lena Byrd Miles, Sheléa, and Tauren Wells.
Beyond the music, GOSPEL Live! offered personal reflections from the artists themselves, shedding light on how gospel touches their lives and informs their work. No genre has had a greater influence on American music than gospel, and it was incredible to witness its evolution in this life-affirming, roof-raising show.
